A Funfair Marleybrook House Wedding – A Day Full of Laughter and Love

Alex + Beth got married at the unique outdoor fairground wedding venue of Marleybrook House in Kent in July 2022. When it comes to fun, unique, and quirky wedding venues, this particular venue has it all—and Alex and Beth’s wedding made the most of its charm. With a thatched cottage, manicured gardens, a rustic barn, and even a vintage fairground, the venue offered endless opportunities for joy and celebration. Their wedding was a day filled with laughter, emotion, and unforgettable memories, making it an event we were honoured to capture on film.

We asked Beth some questions about how they planned the wedding and their journey.

The Proposal

“Alex proposed on the 1st December 2019 whilst we were putting up our Christmas trees knowing that Christmas is a huge deal in our family & my favourite time of the year he picked the perfect occasion. He’d had a bauble made with ‘will you marry me’ written inside it. He pulled out all the stops by having my ring made in Dubai knowing that I’d always wanted something unique & bespoke making it extra special and personal.”

Visions & Ideas

“We always liked the idea of a vintage style wedding which worked perfectly with Marleybrook House and their vintage fairground.” said Beth. She also planned for a neutral, timeless colour scheme with ivory roses and foliage for her Marleybrook House Wedding. The flowers were from Floral Explosions.

The Morning

Beth + Alex chose the Preparations and Standard Package wedding video coverage meaning we started at Beth’s parents house 3 hours before the ceremony to film all of the getting ready. Beth felt very, very excited but For Alex, the excitement of the day came with a few pre-ceremony jitters (the hayfever he blamed!). His nerves got the best of him as he prepared to greet guests, but his wish to wait until his bride, Beth, arrived was touching. He wanted to welcome everyone with her by his side, showing just how much comfort and strength he drew from his soon-to-be wife. It was a moment that beautifully highlighted the deep bond they share—a bond that would be celebrated throughout the day.

Beth’s wedding dress and veil were both from Pronovias from Amore Brides. She looked stunning!

Kerry Ann Duffy was their photographer on the day – I work really closely with Kerry and our way of working is very similar and discreet.

On the Day

Beth + Alex planned some amazing entertainment for their Marleybrook House Wedding. They had a fantastic singer, Emily Reed, who sang whilst Beth and her Dad and step-dad walked her down the aisle – this was so special, a must watch of the video below! Beth told us that she chose Emily as a singer because ”  I always wanted to walk down the aisle to ‘The Prayer’. This was my nan’s song who is sadly no longer with us so it had to be someone absolutely amazing to sing it and that they were! “

The couple exchanged their vows in the picturesque manicured gardens surrounded by blooming flowers and the gentle rustle of trees. One of the most heartwarming moments was when Beth walked down the aisle, accompanied by both her stepdad and dad. It was a touching gesture that added an extra layer of love and meaning to the ceremony. This personal moment created a lasting memory, especially in light of the sad news that Beth’s father passed away just weeks after the wedding. Beth later shared with us how much their wedding film has become even more precious, capturing these irreplaceable moments forever.

Alex + Beth had confetti as they walked down the aisle then their drinks reception in the open lawn area. They had some photos shortly after whilst guests were being served canapés.

After the wedding breakfast, Alex + Beth had VIP Waiters Live which was a MASSIVE surprise to their guests, they did an extraordinary performance which shocked and surprised their guests, and it ended in a really big sing-along!

Bon-Bon Cakes made their beautiful 4 tiered semi-naked cake which matched their neutral theme with 4 different flavoured sponges and buttercream dressed with ivory roses and foliage on a log base.

Scott Anderson did the catering at their Marleybrook Hosue Wedding and Beth told us “We had a 3 course wedding breakfast, fairground treats (including the best donuts our guests had ever tasted) and the big bbq in the evening!”

The Evening

The celebration kicked into high gear at the venue’s very own vintage fairground. With dodgems, a carousel, a big wheel, and waltzers, guests couldn’t stop laughing as they embraced the fun-filled atmosphere. There’s something about spinning around on waltzers and bumping cars with loved ones that brings out the joy in everyone, and it was clear that this fairground was the highlight of the day. The sound of laughter echoed throughout the grounds, and the smiles on guests’ faces were so wide that their cheeks ached by the end of the night.

The fairground rides, coupled with the rustic charm of the barn and the beauty of the gardens, made their Marleybrook House wedding the perfect venue for this quirky and unique wedding. It brought out the playful side of the day while allowing for heartfelt moments of reflection and love.

The Wedding Party

Once the funfair had ended, the guests headed back to the marquee to start the party, hosted by the wonderful band, Groove Zoo . They even sang Alex + Beth’s first dance song which was very emotional!
