A Rustic South Farm Wedding
Ben & Sam got married at the beautiful, rustic and bespoke venue of South Farm in Royston, Cambridge in July 2022. We asked Ben & Sam some questions about how they planned the wedding and their journey.
The Proposal
“We got engaged in Sorrento, Italy, at a champagne bar overlooking the sea and the mountains. The perfect setting. Ben got down on one knee and Sam was very shocked as she didn’t expect it. She said yes straight away.” – Awwww, this is so lovely!
Visions & Ideas
Ben told us, “We love South Farm as its decorated with an English and Thai theme. The day all went to plan and it was a day we will never forget. Beautiful setting and hot sunshine. Perfect in every way.”
The Morning
Ben & Sam chose the Preparations and Standard Package wedding video coverage meaning we started at South Farm 3 hours before the ceremony to film all of the getting ready. Ben said he didn’t feel very nervous but Sam was whilst having her make up done but the nerves quickly went as she walked down the aisle!
Sam’s dress was from Wed2Be – she visited the shop with an idea of the dress she wanted and came out with just that!
Marianne Chua was their photographer on the day – I have worked with Marianne a few times before, she’s got a quirky, relaxed style which instantly puts couples at ease.
On the Day
Ben told us, “The whole day was perfect from start to finish. It couldn’t have gone better. Everyone had a great time and the setting was beautiful. Seeing Sam walk down the aisle in her wedding dress for the first time was amazing.”
Sam walked down the aisle to music played by the harpist Alexander Thomas. Watched by their 3 fantastic children.
Sam chose the colour theme for the bridesmaids and flower girl. Ben chose it for the best men. The colour theme looked great when all together.
After the ceremony, Ben & Sam greeting their guests and had confetti at the front of the house then drinks and canapés on the lawn behind. The weather was just perfect and the venue had plenty of shady spots for people.
Marianne whizzed through the formal photos then we took the couple for a few shots with the on-site piglets and for a walk in the meadow. The light was beautiful.
South Farm Wedding Video
Ben said “Although pictures are great, the wedding film gave us both the chance to see behind the scenes parts we didn’t know was happening with each other and the guests. A chance to look back on the day and give us reminders and memories to last forever. Something we can watch many times with family and friends.
Anneka was amazing and mingled with the guests. Excellent videographer and a friendly, lovely lady.”
The Evening
Guests were entertained by Lee Smith Magic whilst they feasted on their thai banquet provided by South Farm. Then everybody was treated to an ice-cream cart and Ben & Sam had a little ride on the Tuk Tuk!
The Best Bits
“Our 3 children. Grace looked stunning in her dress, Jack mature and handsome in his suit, Lucas was star of the show in his shorts suit.
Every part of the day we loved looking back on. The first dance was lovely to see. Great to see family and friends all mingling and having fun in the sunshine. From start to finish a perfect wedding film.”
Ben & Sam’s advice for couples planning their wedding is:
“Visit lots of venues then choose the 2 favourite ones and re-visit them again. Give yourself enough time to prepare for the wedding day and make it as special and perfect as you want it to be. Invest in a good videographer and photographer, as there’s only one time to get those shots and cherish those memories on video”
