A Vintage Style Wedding at The Orangery in Kent
Adam & Stephanie got married at the enchanting Orangery in Kent in June 2022. The Orangery is an exclusive use venue set within nine acres of beautifully landscaped gardens full of romantic gardens and secret areas. We asked Adam & Stephanie about their journey as a couple and wedding day.
The Proposal
Steph told us, “Adam proposed in June 2018 in Sorrento, Italy. We love Italy hold many great memories together and with family. The name of the restaurant was Bagni Delfino, overlooking the sea. I didn’t expect the proposal, though I did wonder why he looked rather nervous after his main meal!”
Visions & Ideas
“I think its fair to say our ‘cake’ was unique a Pork Pie wedding cake. Many of our guest believed it was a cake to look like a pork pie cake or chocolate cake. It wasn’t until its cut people believed us !
Our vision was to be our authentic selves, it’s so easy to get carried away in what you should have at a wedding.”
Memories To Remember
Stephanie told us, “The most memorable has to be all three speeches from Father of the Bride, Groom and best Man, they where incredible sharing our stories and with love and laughter. “
Adam told us, “For me, it was overwhelming to see all our friends and family in the same place, and seeing my now wife walk down the aisle.”
The Orangery in Kent Wedding Video
We asked Stephanie why they chose to have a wedding videographer, she told us, “The main reason was to capture the moments we may not have seen or remember, I’m am so glad that we did. The day went so fast and there was so much to take in, looking back brought back all the feelings we had one the day!”
The Wedding Day
Adam & Stephanie chose our Standard Package wedding video coverage meaning we started at The Orangery about 1 hour before the ceremony to start filming the venue and guests arriving.
Stephanie’s dress was from Victoria Elaine Bridal, where she fell in love with an Ellis bridal dress – didn’t she look just stunning?! Even after the covid postponements, she still loved the dress, meaning it MUST have been THE DRESS!
Kerry Ann Duffy was their photographer on the day, her editorial, relaxed style is so unique. I have worked alongside Kerry on multiple occasions and we compliment each others style perfectly.
Stephanie told us, “The day had finally arrived after many postponements, the morning ran so smoothly thanks to my parents and bridesmaid’s. On arriving at The Orangery, I was full of excitement and couldn’t wait to see Adam. The nerves hit as I started to walking across the bridge and seeing Adam, this is when my tummy was full of butterflies and tears in my eyes.”
Adam told us that he was nervous and excited, having his family and friends around was great at keeping him calm.
Wedding Inspiration & Styling
Stephanie told us, “When Adam proposed, as any other bride, my Pinterest went crazy. From day one, I knew I want sage green, with colours complementing. We have a love of vintage, this is where the ideas stemmed and ideas for gifting vintage tea cups as our favours.
The inspiration and styling natural evolved into what was our wedding day.
For me, fresh flowers where a MUST, as peonies are my favourite flower, the flowers on our wedding day were breathtaking. Our florist was Natalie Smith an old school friend. We had so many compliments on how beautiful they where and how wonderful it looked in the wedding breakfast room.
We feasted on good old english pie and mash for our first meal as a married couple!”
Wedding Entertainment
Adam told us, “We had a harpist, we got the inspiration for this went we was on a trip to Bruges in 2018, there was a free harpist concert and then we researched local suppliers.”
The Best Bits
Adam & Stephanie told us, “Soooo many, soooo many best bits! If we had to choose, it would be the speeches and the way Anneka Ireland Videography captured all of our wedding guests. Also how Anneka incorporated all our song choices, the section of a song that I LOVE, gave me goosebumps.”
Adam & Stephanie’s advice for couples planning their wedding is:
“Enjoy, be true to who you are a couple and do what you feel is right, it’s your wedding day. Each wedding is so unique and individual, and embrace this 🙂
Don’t sweat the small stuff, it wasn’t until a week later there were several things within our wedding that I realised hadn’t gone to plan. It took us a week to notice and our guests where none the wiser!”
