Video of a Fun Vibes Old Kent Barn Wedding
Shireef & Emily got married in July 2021 at the award winning Old Kent Barn near Folkestone. We asked Emily and Shireef to tell us a bit about their big day.
Wedding Day Visions and Themes
Emily told us, “We wanted the day to be fun and sociable, with an informal and relaxed vibe. We chose a green and white colour scheme, we wanted it to be simple and feel very natural and fresh.”
We asked the couple about the proposal, Emily told us that Shireef had proposed in their living room, after cooking a steak for dinner. Emily cried! Shireef also asked for Emily’s parents’ blessing 2 weeks before, in the meantime Emily and her mum went on holiday and her mum amazingly kept it quiet!! No pressure on her!!
Important Moments
Emily told us, “Just after we were announced husband and wife, and walked back down the aisle. Our friends and family threw confetti and it was such an amazing feeling being married and surrounded by so many people we love, especially after the pandemic. It was our favourite moment of the day.”
They decided to have a wedding film because they wanted to capture as many memories from the day as possible, so they can look back on the day and remember. They thought that an Old Kent barn wedding video would capture parts of the day which they hadn’t seen too, and they told us that it has been so lovely watching them over.
Feelings On The Morning
Shireef felt excited, Emily was excited but also nervous! They were hoping to get married outside and the weather forecast was for thunderstorms, it wasn’t looking great in the morning but thankfully by the time of the ceremony there were blue skies and sunshine! Emily said, “We were so lucky. After the postponements due to covid, it really was third time lucky!”
Shireef & Emily chose the Preparations and Standard Package wedding video coverage meaning we started at The Old Kent Barn 3 hours before the ceremony to film all of the getting ready. It’s a really good idea, if possible, to get ready at the wedding venue, it cuts out any possible stress from traveling to different locations. The Old Kent Barn have different spaces for getting ready and the bridal and grooms suites are both gorgeous rooms!
On the Day
Emily had two wedding dresses – the daytime dress was Justin Alexander purchased from Bromley Brides, West Wickham, and the evening dress was Madi Lane purchased from Serena Bridal, Wickford.
Sarah & Jeff from Jeff Oliver Photographer were the photographers on the day and we worked alongside each other really well. It was great fun too!
The Best Bits of the Old Kent Barn Wedding Video
Emily & Shireef told us,”It was really lovely seeing the guests arriving and everybody mingling. There’s so many smiles and so much happiness it’s so great watching it. It’s also really nice having captured the ceremony with the readings as well as the speeches.”
