We feel extremely privilaged to be the recommended videographer at Wotton House, Dorking in Surrey. A mansion adorned with whimsical 17th-century detailing, we get to visit many times each year. Spoilt for choice with shots at this venue, we are constantly finding new nooks and crannies to get some lovely footage for our couples wedding films.
We filmed Karis & Andy’s wedding October 2021 and the day ran perfectly, we asked the couple a bit about their day…
Tell us about the Proposal…
“At sunset on a beach in Lanzarote – Andy was a blubbering mess as most blokes are at that point. The sun was just about to set and the sky looked incredible when he dropped down on one knee. Without realising, there was a love heart made of stones right next to us which looked incredible.”
Did you have a vision for the wedding or was it something that just developed?
“We didn’t have an overall vision, other than a day that would be purely magical – which it was! The fact we could have 100+ guests after the last 18 months and a date change was the cherry on the top!!”
Do you have any particular memorable moments from your wedding day?
“Watching Karis walk down the aisle on the wedding video, best moment of my life! And seeing all our friends and family there for us was breathtaking! And after watching back the speeches, they were epic!”
What were the main reasons for choosing to book a wedding videographer?
“To relive the magic of the day whenever you want. It was an absolute no brainer to have both a photographer and videographer! And the fact they both worked harmoniously and get on so well is just amazing!”
Who was your photographer?
Simon from BeUnveiled Weddings.
How did you both feel on the morning of the wedding?
“Karis was pretty calm all things considered, the madness of the morning probably helped! Andy was rather nervous and wanted to get to the venue asap to prevent waiting around at home worrying!”
Where did you find your wedding dress?
“Bride to Be, in Reading”
Where did you get the flowers?
“We initially went for lilac, but finding good bridesmaid dresses was a nightmare so changed to one of our favourite colours, sky blue, which given the change from May to October, was a brilliant choice! It stood out much better and made the flowers, created by Flowers By Elaine, much more emphatic”
Who made your cake and how did you decide on how you wanted it to look?
“Wedding Cakes by Lisa Broughton created out outstanding cake. We wanted different styles for different layers to make it stand out. The trickiest layer to design was the middle sky blue layer with the K&A stencil, but she smashed it and it looked epic!”
Who provided the food and how did you choose the menu?
“The food was provided by Wotton House and we chose this on a menu tasting evening. We wanted something hearty but not too rich to appease all of our guests – and having beef at a wedding on a Sunday was a great success!”
Did you have any entertainment?
“Keziah Thomas provided music on her harp during the ceremony and reception, she is so talented and it provided a beautiful and elegant setting for an incredible venue”
Do you have any particular memorable moments from the day?
“Watching Karis walk down the aisle, just breathtaking! The speeches were so well filmed as on the day it was difficult to take in every word (especially as Andy was so nervous!) and catching so much of the evening was brilliant, especially after the first dance as we hadn’t seen that beforehand!”
Do you have any advice for couples who are at the start of the wedding planning process?
“Budget, the re-budget, and don’t worry too much if it is over as you will not regret it!
Also – MAKE A SPREADSHEET – the easiest way to get things started.”
