Natasha & Emma got married at the gorgeous 18th Century Manor House of Northbrook Park, Surrey in April 2019. After their wedding we asked Natasha a few questions about the planning and the wedding day…
The Proposal
Emma proposed to me in Sweden on a trip along with 2 of our close friends who are also now engaged – Dan and Jack who were ushers at our wedding. Emma, Dan and Jack ended up going to Sweden a couple of days before me and found the perfect spot for the proposal. A secluded woodland with a ‘love tunnel’ created by the trees which opened onto a beautiful lake.
Did you have a vision for the wedding or was it something that just developed?
We wanted pretty and pastels and simple with hints of wood, brick and gold.
What were the main reasons for choosing to book a wedding videographer?
We saw a family friends wedding video and it was beautiful! We knew the video would capture more and mean more to us than photos so we cut back on our photographer budget and only had one for 4 hours on our wedding day so that we could get Anneka and the ‘extras’ i.e dance floor montage
Who was your photographer?
Katie from Fringe Photography.
Where did your wedding inspiration come from?
Magazines and our general style. Our flowers helped bring the whole ‘theme’ together. They were pretty and still wild and ‘undone’. Our florist Alice from Meadow Folk was amazing! She had to do 10 flower crowns and 11 bouquets!
Everyone commented on how wonderful the flowers were! I’m drumming my flower crown to frame and keep forever I loved it that much!
Who made your cake and how did you decide on how you wanted it to look?
A family friend Dawn – Graze and Vine made our cake. We knew she would be able to make an amazing vegan cake and she didn’t disappoint! Not only was it beautiful but it tasted amazing!
We knew we always wanted a naked cake too and Dawn and our florist recommend decorating it simply with flowers and fruit.
Who provided the food and how did you choose the menu?
White truffle! They were amazing and provided our guests which a choice of 3 options for starter main and dessert all of which they had made vegan and nut free for us and our guests!
Did you have any entertainment?
We had Ginger, an amazing drag performer and DJ – House of Johnson DJ and performer. We love drag and she was recommended by a close friend.
Do you have any particular memorable moments from the day?
Seeing our son Elijah as our ring bearer was a beautiful moment. Throwing the bouquets was spur of the moment fun… So many tequila shots! Gingers performances were amazing… These moments make it all worthwhile and I’m glad it was all captured on our wedding film!
Do you have any advice for couples who are at the start of the wedding planning process?
- Don’t stress and keep planning!
- Everything will come together on the day and even if it doesn’t you won’t notice!
- Hire a wedding planner/coordinator if you can, we hired Ella at The Surrey Wedding Company who was incredible at manning our day and keeping things running smoothly.
- Delegate to your bridal party/flimsily/friends they can elevate some stress for you and they will be excited to help!
- Booking wedding videographer so you can see all of those memorable moments again.
