Simon & Sara got married at Simons Auntie’s house in East Sussex in her beautiful grounds adorned with wild flowers in June 2019. After their wedding we asked Sara, the bride a few questions about the planning and the wedding day…

The Proposal

Simon proposed to me in Las Vegas while we were out there celebrating his 30th birthday. He booked dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restuarant and secretly arranged the proposal with the staff there. Our table was overlooking the bellagio fountain at night, was perfect!

Did you have a vision for the wedding or was it something that just developed?

Not really a vision we just knew we wanted to get married there, and made extra special by it being a family residence and the fond childhood memories Simon has growing there. From this, the wedding just developed and was more than we could have ever of dream’t of.

What were the main reasons for choosing to book a wedding videographer?

Booking a wedding videographer mean’t everlasting visual memories and to watch the day back and see parts we didn’t get to see on the day and those parts that just flew by. It was a whirlwind of a day and being able to watch our beautiful video helped us really absorb every single moment and watch the day over and over again!

Who was your photographer?

The very talented and creative Teri – Teri V Photography, was amazing and hit the brief to the style of photos we wanted and captured them perfectly

Where did your wedding inspiration come from?

We wanted a very natural, laid back style wedding full of whites, greens and a hint of blue, our flower theme was very much foliage including a foliage chandelier above the bar. Because of the natural beauty we were surrounded by we were able to keep the flower theme very natural and elegant. All flowers were by the very talented Lisa from Cabbage White Flowers.

Who made your cake and how did you decide on how you wanted it to look?

Harriet from ‘Harriet Tamsin Cakes’ .I designed the cake with help from Harriet, I had two cake designs and Harriet recreated it as one cake. We had carrot cake and vanilla sponge cake with raspberry buttercream. Lisa from Cabbage White Flowers then added flowers onto the cak.e

Who provided the food and how did you choose the menu?

Elizabeth Caton Food & Wine – Lizzie. The menu was very much decided from a tasting menu put on by Lizzie with a huge variety of choices, all their food is either home grown or from local butchers etc, food was so fresh and cooked perfectly. Canapés were delicious that were had in the garden after the ceremony. Wedding breakfast was just perfect, we were so glad with our choices and everyone wanted more! Evening food which included bacon baps, fish and chip cones and selection of cheeses went down an absolute treat.

Did you have any entertainment during the day?

We had pianist from ‘piano DJ’ for the ceremony, canapés and throughout the wedding breakfast, created such a wonderful atmosphere. It was lovely to see this all back on our wedding video.

Do you have any particular memorable moments from the day?

Seeing everyone really enjoying themselves which made such a great atmosphere. Our gorgeous little son Jude was just amazing. The most gorgeous ring bearer we ever did see and his non stop dancing on the dance floor, he was a big highlight to the day and made it extra special him being part of our wonderful memories of the day. And not to forget the Irish dance that my brother Simon and his girlfriend Ciara done for us, was a huge hit on the dance floor!

Do you have any advice for couples who are at the start of the wedding planning process?

Just enjoy it and try not to get too overwhelmed, it will all come together in the end and will be perfect, especially if you are as lucky as we were with such incredible suppliers, they really do make the day so special. We cannot recommend Anneka Ireland Videography enough, from our first conversation together whilst planning our wedding to receiving the USB full of our wedding memories from the day, Anneka was amazing, helpful, reassuring and we had absolutely no worries whatsoever on the day, the love and dedication Anneka has is most definitely shown in Anneka’s wedding videography, could never thank you enough for capturing our day so perfectly, thank you x
